Submission of abstracts and full papers

Prospective authors are invited to submit an electronic copy of their abstracts (1 or 2  pages long) to BIOMAT 2005 Scientific Committee (info@biomat.org) by the due date (July 17, 2005)..

The official language is English for abstracts, full papers and oral presentations.

The file format should be RTF, DOC (Windows Word 2000 or higher) or Latex. References should be complete as a list at the end of the paper. They should be sequentially numbered according to their appearance in the text. The length of the camera-ready full papers (if accepted) will be limited from 5 pages (minimum) up to 30 pages (maximum). Check for a word or a latex template. An additional  PDF copy is desirable.

Posters should not be larger than 1.0m X 0,8m.

The first page of the abstract should clearly include for each author:

  • title of the paper
    name
    affiliation and position
    complete mailing address
    email address
    telephone/fax number

In additon, the first page of the abstract should also include the name of the author who will be presenting the full paper (if accepted) as well as a maximum of 5 keywords.

Evaluation process

Abstracts  will be evaluated for originality and significance. All the corresponding full papers of accepted abstracts are expected to be submitted to the final evaluation process.  All accepted full papers are expected to be presented at the symposium.  The acceptance of any abstract does not imply that the corresponding full paper will be accepted as well.

Full papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Each full paper will be refereed by researchers in the topical area. Abstracts will not be considered for presentation or publication. Only accepted full papers will be considered for presentation and publication.

Publication

The conference proceedings will be published in the ISBN indexed book called "Proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Mathematical and Computational Biology / Fifth Brazilian Symposium on Mathematical and Computational Biology".

Only accepted full papers will be considered for publication in the proceedings. The Editorial Board will select among those accepted full papers the ones for publication.

Organizers / Sponsors

A number of universities faculty members and their staff in cooperation with the  Mathematical and Computational Biology Group of UFRJ will be organizing the conference.

Co-sponsors from research centers, international associations, international research groups are most welcome.

Previous sponsors included: UFRJ, FIOCRUZ, FAPERJ, Fogarty International Center - USA, Petrobras, CenDoTec - French Embassy, CAPES, UESC, FAPESB.
